Reported personal story

Sabrina Bahsoon — sectioned as psychotic; her father pushed for one more test

What happened

Sabrina Bahsoon, 25, a London-based creator known online as "Tube Girl," became ill on 19 March 2026, the day she had filmed with the girl group FLO. She was sectioned under the Mental Health Act and diagnosed with psychosis in a mental health hospital, where she was kept on antipsychotic medication she did not respond to. This entry is written in her own words' shadow, and says so: every clinical claim in it comes from Bahsoon's own public accounts, repeated consistently by several outlets, with no clinician, hospital record, or case report published to corroborate them.

What it looked like

Sudden hysterical crying and screaming and behaviour she describes as psychotic; violence — she was taken away in handcuffs and restrained after paramedics called police; attempts to hurt herself and her family. Then deterioration on the medication: around 26 lb (12 kg) of weight loss, and a catatonic state in which she could not speak, eat, or sleep.

What the labs found

She says it was about two months before the test her father had been pushing for was run. Her father, worried by her deterioration, sought advice from a neurologist he knew and pushed doctors to investigate anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis specifically; doctors initially resisted, then agreed. She reports that testing and scans found teratomas on her ovaries — the tumours that can trigger this autoimmune brain inflammation. No antibody titre or spinal-fluid detail has been published. In her words: "I was super lucky to have my parents fighting for me… Anyone who has these symptoms and is just diagnosed as psychosis, I encourage you to fight and get the extra scans and do the extra tests." She also says the hospital later apologised for keeping her there and not running the test sooner — her report of an apology, printed as hers.

What changed

Surgery on 18 June 2026 removed the ovarian teratomas, and her ovaries were preserved. She describes two rounds of immunotherapy, including a five-hour drip to remove the antibodies. She was discharged in July 2026 and is recovering in Malaysia, with memory loss from the illness period, rebuilding her life and hoping to return to music and content creation.

The test that told the story

Anti-NMDA receptor antibody testing, and the ovarian scans that found the teratomas — as reported by Bahsoon herself; no independent medical account has been published.
