Clinical research

A toddler's restless sleep — and a small cohort of iron-treated children

What happened

Researchers followed young children whose sleep was severely restless and whose iron stores were low, and treated the iron deficiency to see what changed.

What it looked like

Children whose nights were broken and bodies restless — in a clinic where behavioral and sleep labels come easily.

What the labs found

Low ferritin. With iron treatment, ferritin rose from 16 to 29 µg/L.

What changed — stated narrowly, because that is what the evidence supports

The children's restless sleep improved. Their core symptoms did not clearly improve, and this entry claims nothing more than the sleep finding. It is included precisely because it shows the discipline of this library: a real, narrow, documented benefit is worth more than a big claim.

The test that told the story

Ferritin.
